We Believe Every Comparison
Should Begin with Principles,
Not Prices.

Too many comparison services start with numbers and end with confusion. At Evaluate Emporium, we reverse the order. We begin with what matters — transparency, fairness, and the courage to show our methodology — and let the numbers follow.

This is our manifesto. Read it before you read our rates.

"We engaged Evaluate Emporium to compare logistics providers across three continents. Their principles-first approach uncovered biases we didn't know we had." — D. Hargreaves, Operations Director, Austral Freight Co.

What This Page Is

  • A declaration of five operating principles that govern every comparison we produce
  • A transparent comparison matrix showing how we differ from conventional evaluators
  • A decision board to help you determine if principled comparison is what you actually need
  • A fit-check framework so neither of us wastes time
  • An honest inquiry pathway — not a sales funnel

Five Principles We Will Not Compromise

These are not aspirational. They are contractual. Every engagement we accept is bound by these commitments, and we publish our adherence record annually.

I. Source Disclosure

Every data point in a comparison report traces back to a named, verifiable source. We never aggregate anonymously. If a vendor refuses to let us cite them, we note the refusal — publicly.

"First evaluator we've worked with who published their source chain alongside results." — T. Ngata, Procurement Lead

II. Methodology Before Metrics

Before we share a single number, we share how we arrived at it. Our methodology documents ship with every draft, not just the final report. Clients challenge our method before they see our conclusions.

III. Conflict Declaration

If we have any commercial relationship — past, present, or pending — with any entity being compared, we declare it on page one. No footnotes. No buried disclosures. Page one, bold type.

In 2024, we declined 3 engagements due to unresolvable conflicts. We published the reasons.

IV. Asymmetric Weighting Transparency

When criteria are weighted differently, we explain why — in plain language. Clients approve weighting before analysis begins. Changes mid-project require written justification from both parties.

V. Right of Reply

Every entity compared in our reports receives a pre-publication summary and 10 business days to submit factual corrections. We publish corrections alongside findings, never silently.

How Principled Comparison Differs

This is not marketing. This is a structural comparison between how most evaluators work and how we work. Judge us by the gaps.

Dimension Conventional Evaluators Evaluate Emporium Why It Matters
Source Visibility Aggregated, anonymised data pools Named, traceable sources with citation chains You can verify. You can challenge. You can trust.
Methodology Timing Disclosed in appendix after delivery Shared before analysis begins; client-approved Prevents post-hoc rationalisation of flawed methods
Conflict Handling Disclosed in legal fine print if at all Declared on page one of every report Eliminates hidden bias from commercial relationships
Weighting Logic Proprietary, often opaque Transparent, pre-approved, change-logged Ensures criteria reflect your priorities, not ours
Right of Reply Rarely offered; entities learn post-publication Mandatory 10-day pre-publication review Reduces factual errors; increases report credibility
Engagement Refusal Accepted unless legally prohibited Declined when principles cannot be maintained Protects the integrity of every report we do produce

The Anatomy of a Principled Comparison

Every engagement passes through a deliberate sequence. Not a pipeline — a sequence with gates. At each gate, either party can pause, question, or exit.

Gate 1: Scope Agreement. We define what is being compared, why, and for whom. If the scope is unclear, we do not proceed.

Gate 2: Methodology Review. Our proposed method is shared, debated, and signed off. This typically takes longer than the analysis itself — and that is intentional.

Gate 3: Data Collection & Source Mapping. Every data point is collected with its provenance. We build a source map alongside the comparison.

Gate 4: Right of Reply Window. Entities receive summaries. Corrections are logged. Disputes are noted transparently.

Gate 5: Delivery & Debrief. The final report ships with methodology, source map, conflict declarations, and correction log attached.

From a recent engagement: "Gate 2 took three weeks. It was the most valuable three weeks of the entire project. By the time the data came in, we already knew what we were looking at and why." — R. Castellano, CFO, Meridian Health Group

Decision Board: Is Principled Comparison Right for You?

Not every comparison needs this level of rigour. Here is an honest assessment of when our approach fits — and when it does not.

Strong Fit

You are making a decision with significant financial, operational, or reputational consequences and need a comparison you can defend to stakeholders, regulators, or boards.

HIGH-STAKES DECISIONS

Good Fit

You have tried conventional comparison services and found their conclusions difficult to verify or their methodology opaque. You want to understand the "how" as much as the "what."

METHODOLOGY-HUNGRY

Possible Fit

You need a comparison for internal planning but are unsure whether the added rigour justifies the timeline. We can scope a lighter engagement — but our principles still apply.

INTERNAL PLANNING

Not a Fit

You need a quick price comparison with a 48-hour turnaround and no interest in methodology. That is a valid need — but it is not what we do. We will not pretend otherwise.

SPEED-FIRST NEEDS

An Editorial Note on the Comparison Industry

The comparison industry has a structural problem: most evaluators are paid by the entities they compare, or by platforms that profit from directing traffic. This creates incentives that are invisible to the end user but corrosive to accuracy.

We chose a different model. Our clients are the decision-makers — the people who need the comparison, not the people being compared. This distinction is simple, but it changes everything.

We do not accept referral fees. We do not accept sponsored placements. We do not accept "preferred partner" arrangements. If an entity wants to influence their ranking in our reports, their only option is to improve their actual performance.

"I have worked with six comparison firms over fifteen years. Evaluate Emporium is the only one that refused a referral arrangement with one of the vendors I asked them to evaluate. That refusal told me more about their integrity than any sales pitch could."

— M. Alderton, Director of Strategic Sourcing, Helix Infrastructure

"Their conflict declaration on page one was uncomfortable to read — they had done work for one of the entities two years prior. But the fact that they declared it, and showed how they mitigated it, made the final report more credible, not less."

— J. Whitford, Board Advisor, Southern Cross Education Trust

Fit-Check Framework

Before you reach out, run through these six questions. If you answer yes to three or more, we should talk.

1. Defensibility

Will you need to defend this comparison to a board, regulator, or external stakeholder?

2. Complexity

Are you comparing more than three entities across more than five criteria?

3. Bias Concern

Do you suspect that previous comparisons you have received may have been influenced by undisclosed relationships?

4. Methodology Interest

Do you care about how the comparison was conducted, not just the result?

5. Timeline Tolerance

Can you allow 3–6 weeks for a rigorous process, including right-of-reply windows?

6. Budget Alignment

Is your budget for this comparison commensurate with a professional, principle-bound engagement rather than a commodity report?
